Only thing that it could do better is tie the knot for me. Does make tying FG not a little easier. Hold line. Nice quality. Had for a year and still hold line.

This tool is great for tying the difficult knots. If you are a seasoned citizen you know that a steady hand and your eyes are a bit sketchy at times. This tool also helps you with coordination. I tried tying FG knots without the knot assist and it was so frustrating to have to zig when I needed to zag with the different lines. I must have started over every time I tried to tie that knot. And when I did tie it, it was less than desirable. Then the knot assist let me focus on the knot instead of the leader or the braid or the tension that is needed. It still takes some practice but, it works. I am still working on making the knots look good.

Item works as designed. Yes, tying these FG Knots without the tool can be done but control and consistency are so much easier. My knots came out great.

I thought what the hell, why not? It's legit. I can't imagine how the daiichi one is any better than this unit so if you're like me pull the trigger on the cheap one. There's really nothing that can break. The frame is really good quality plastic, the snaps are crisp and tight, and it holds. I fish mostly fresh water and run between 5 and 45lbs braid and 4-14lbs mono and fluoro leaders. I threw a $25 sinking jerkbait and my joining uniknot snagged an eye and whipped/popped the leader about a foot up from my palomar knot and I watched it sink in to oblivion. FG knot is life for me from now on.
