You'll need to use a weight to hold it down. I used a 5lb divers weight secured with some 5/50 cord

Seems to be a pretty sturdy stand. No bites yet though. Lol
I absolutely love this rod stand! Very easy to use. Sets up in seconds. Legs adjust separately so can be set up well on uneven surfaces. I believe it would hold 5 rods but I can only use 3 in my state and it spaces 3 rods out nicely. I only use baitfeeder reels and this stand functions fantastic in this role. They probably won't hold your rods securely without a baitfeeder reel, using an anti-reverse or opening your bail. That said I don't feel like that was what they are made for. It's a rod "stand" not a rod "holder" and used the way I use it I absolutely love it!!!
This is worth the money. I like it alot for carp and catfish action
Portable and folds up nice and neat only downside is it doesn't come with a bag for carrying
